I’m hearing that Panic’s Coda is really good, but I don’t really want to drop $100 on it just to use the CSS tools. Also, I know that if I buy Coda, I’m going to want to make a Tumblr plugin for it… and I have a feeling that it wouldn’t be as simple as making the bundle for TextMate…

There is an app called Stylizer that seems to be similar to CSSEdit, but for Windows. They’re going to release a Mac version sometime soon, so that might be the solution… I just wish MacRabbit would update CSSEdit and provide official support for CSS3 (Yes, I know about the hack).

I hate it when a developer abandons a good app… especially...

I hate it when a developer abandons a good app… especially when that app wasn’t free. I’ve used CSSEdit for a while. It’s not something I need everyday, but when you’re making a site, it makes applying styles so much easier… The problem is, it hasn’t been updated since 2007. The developer has focused on Espresso instead, which is apparently a good app, but I’ve got TextMate (which hasn’t really been updated in a while, but at least I know there are still people making stuff for it and the developer is working on version 2.0). Perhaps, I should just buy Espresso because it has most of the feature of CSSEdit in it.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a stylesheet editor like CSSEdit?

davidkaneda:

I just changed it to the markdown editor after discovering how much sense markdown makes. I had to make a README for github, and since github recognizes markdown, I figured that would be the best way to do it. Now I can insert links like I know what I’m doing!.

Tumblr Themes TextMate Bundle 1.1

Tumblr Themes TextMate Bundle 1.1:
I made an update that adds snippets for booleans, custom text, custom fonts, ect.
PERSISTING THE MAC PLUTOCRACY, EH? I mean, something that only 20% of us (at most) can use… that’s a bit weak, isn’t it?

Why couldn’t this have been done on a multi-platform tool? It’s worth the extra effort to get that 80-90% extra audience.

I am going to keep saying this until Apple and its community developers stop pulling the same proprietary platform crap that a lot of Windows developers are also in-the-wrong for doing. (and until I have something better than Notepad2)

Mr. brianvan here apparently thinks that my little TextMate plug-in is full development suite that I was contracted to develop. Well, it’s not, but the good news is Windows users can use it as well!

The Windows equivalent of TextMate is a program called E Text Editor and it supports TextMate Bundles! There is even a Linux text editor called Redcar that supports TexMate bundles.

andytlr:

I’m working on a TextMate bundle for creating Tumblr Themes. It shouldn’t take me too long. When it’s done I’ll probably put it on github for all to enjoy.

Sweet. I use Coda so I don’t really know what TextMate bundles are. I assume it will just insert the correct template code for you. You click on 128x128 Portrait URL and it inserts {PortraitURL-128}

What I’d LOVE is to be able to see an example of what that is without copying and pasting the code into Tumblr. So as you’re designing the preview in Coda looks like it would live. Not like this:

Don’t know if that’s possible, but man, it would be awesome!

That would be pretty awesome, but unfortunately that would require recreating the entire theme engine… so, it would be something that Tumblr, Inc. would do if they wanted to, but I don’t expect it’s high on their list (see: David Karp is a non-profit).

I expect that a revision of the Customize page for creating themes is on someone’s list.

Re: Tumblr Themes TextMate Bundle
