So, I have Sitemeter set up on my site right now to track how many people come to this site and where they are coming from, it’s more for fun than anything else, if you haven’t noticed there aren’t any ads. Sitemeter is great, it’s used by tons of sites (Gizmodo uses it and for a long time Engadget used it and they may still). It’s one of the few analytics tools that will allow anyone to see your stats (you can turn it off). It’s done me well and I may continue to use it here and on future projects.
However, recently there has been a lot of buzz of Google Analytics. It does everything Sitemeter does… and more. I’m just nut sure it does these things as well as Sitemeter. Google has some pretty smart people working for them, but that doesn’t mean the can’t make a shitty product. I’m going to try it out for a little while and I’ll report back what I think.
