This is for David and Marco and the rest of the people at Davidville who work on Tumblr (yeah they do more than just Tumblr, check out senduit.com some time!).
I started using Tumblr a few months ago after I first learned about Tumblelogs. I forget where I found out about Tumblr specifically, probably from Leo Laporte.
I don’t really have the time or patients to create and maintain my own site. If I were to have a what most people would consider a “real” blog I would want something really nice and custom made. I’d want to host it myself and I would have to spend some time with my friends Photoshop and Illustrator and I would make something presentable and great. However, then I would feel obligated to blog and I would feel bad if I didn’t have the time.
I know what you are thinking, why not hire someone? Well that costs money, and Daniel Burka is too busy.
So, what are you supposed to do if you want to blog once in a while, but you don’t want to build the site yourself, and you don’t want to spend any money? Well you could go and get a wordpress.com blog or something similar, but you can’t use your own domain name, and the themes suck. (I have a whole rant on themes that I might write later).
So, I saw Tumblr and I knew it was for me. I can use my own domain for free! The default themes are basic and they look great! And I can make posts when ever because it’s not a real blog.
So thank you Tumblr for letting me be a lazy blogger!
