This video has reaffirmed why I love Steve Jobs and dislike Walt Mossberg. Seriously, the guy is 62 years old and has been a journalist for over 40 years, covering technology for the last 20, and yet he’s no more professional than an amateur blogger. Something about him bothers me, but I suspect that it’s related to his publisher more than anything else (it probably has a lot to do with the speculative Apple Tablet articles WSJ posted in the past few weeks, which were mostly wrong).
The sad thing is, he’s one of the few member of the press Steve Jobs will talk directly. I still find it strange that Ballmer will do an interview with Engadget and Gizmodo, but when they try to talk to Apple, they always get a response from some unnamed Apple PR person. OK, they might have a name, but not one any nerd cares about.
I still waiting for Apple to embrace the new press a little more. It has gotten to the point where sites like Engadget are every bit as reputable as David Pogue and Old Man Mossberg (OK, 62 isn’t that old, sorry Walt).
