My dad was telling me about how he was thinking about buying a USB turntable so he could convert some of his records to mp3s. He doesn’t really listen to music, but he said he would like it if he could have a few CDs of his favorite albums in his car.
I said, “You could probably just buy the 10 or so albums you want on iTunes and spend less than it would cost to get the turntable.” He was skeptical and didn’t believe that he would be able to find some of the artists he was looking for, and proceeded to name the most obscure artist he could think of from his record collection: “Tunderclap Newman” (which isn’t very obscure considering they had a number one hit)
Anyway, I found them on iTunes in 3 seconds. Then he challenged me to find Elton John’s soundtrack to the movie Friends, which I have to admit I wasn’t able to explicitly find. Instead I found Elton John’s Rare Masters album, which has all of the songs from the movie on it.
I told him he should just go on iTunes and get the songs he wants, put them on his iPhone and play it through his car stereo.
Apparently that made too much sense.
