Yes, it’s not perfect. There will never be a perfect anything. That said, the iPhone isn’t even close to perfect, but compared to other smartphones, it’s pretty damn great. I keep seeing articles (specifically ones by MG Siegler at TechMunch) whining about the iPhone’s flaws. Don’t get me wrong, he has valid points: AT&T is a terrible carrier (though, I’m not sure Verizon or any of the others would be substantially better, and personally I’ve had a pretty good experience with AT&T) and Apple has made poor decisions now and then since they first launched the phone in 2007 (They weren’t even going to have a real SDK for it!). However, it’s a revolutionary device, and it can do everything you’d ever need a mobile device to do. Apple’s got a pretty good thing going right now, so the best thing disgruntled users can do is to let Apple know when they’ve fucked up and when they’ve done good. They answer is not to go find another platform and try to model it after the iPhone, which would be inevitable at this point, but rather take what we’ve got and try to make sure Apple move it in the right direction going forward.
I’ve certainly contradicted myself here.
