I forgot to post about this after I saw it. It’s an independent film called Primer (2004). It was made for $7,000, and it’s pretty impressive.
It’s about the accidental invention of a time machine, but other than that, it’s incredibly realistic and well thought out. This may have something to do with the fact that the writer, director, producer, and star, Shane Carruth, was an engineer and spent almost two years planning out the film before he shot it.
This is the whole film on Google Video, but it’s really well shot, so you should probably get the DVD to fully enjoy it.
