Agh! Google switched to a Javascript submit on their SERP search form. Now I can’t command-submit to open in a new tab. :(
didn’t you could do that, and it seems to work just fine for me.
Funny or Die’s Presidential Reunion (via FunnyorDie)
Awesome!
The founder and CEO of Valve, Gabe Newell, was at GDC today accepting the Pioneer Award for all of the awesome stuff he and his company has done (see: Portal, Half-Life, Team Fortress, L4D).
He talked about the importance of interacting with your customers and was just about to talk about the new games when…BSOD.
It was, of course, staged, but also a hint that something cool lies ahead. The message said “Suspend until E3,” when Valve will probably be showing off Portal 2 and… something else?
So, I finally figured out how to use git and GitHub (I’ll be honest, I had to use a Git GUI). Please feel free to fork it and make it better!
I feel like all my posts are about this bundle now… must go find a cute cat video…

This is a page you might not have noticed. It has a bunch of great web, mobile, and desktop apps that you can use with Tumblr. My TextMate bundle is a recent addition!
(btw, if you’re using the bundle and want to know if I update it, which I probably will, you’ll have to use the Google code site until I wrap my head around github)
raspberrysnow asked: Have you thought of making some themes for the dashboard, or even just to have a simple option for changing colours! Just an idea :)
I do not work for Tumblr. See Marco, I hear he’s in charge of themes.
PERSISTING THE MAC PLUTOCRACY, EH? I mean, something that only 20% of us (at most) can use… that’s a bit weak, isn’t it?
Why couldn’t this have been done on a multi-platform tool? It’s worth the extra effort to get that 80-90% extra audience.
I am going to keep saying this until Apple and its community developers stop pulling the same proprietary platform crap that a lot of Windows developers are also in-the-wrong for doing. (and until I have something better than Notepad2)
Mr. brianvan here apparently thinks that my little TextMate plug-in is full development suite that I was contracted to develop. Well, it’s not, but the good news is Windows users can use it as well!
The Windows equivalent of TextMate is a program called E Text Editor and it supports TextMate Bundles! There is even a Linux text editor called Redcar that supports TexMate bundles.
ben:
I’m working on a TextMate bundle for creating Tumblr Themes. It shouldn’t take me too long. When it’s done I’ll probably put it on github for all to enjoy.
Sweet. I use Coda so I don’t really know what TextMate bundles are. I assume it will just insert the correct template code for you. You click on 128x128 Portrait URL and it inserts {PortraitURL-128}
What I’d LOVE is to be able to see an example of what that is without copying and pasting the code into Tumblr. So as you’re designing the preview in Coda looks like it would live. Not like this:
Don’t know if that’s possible, but man, it would be awesome!
That would be pretty awesome, but unfortunately that would require recreating the entire theme engine… so, it would be something that Tumblr, Inc. would do if they wanted to, but I don’t expect it’s high on their list (see: David Karp is a non-profit).
I expect that a revision of the Customize page for creating themes is on someone’s list.
